Woodchester Mansion, a location sought after by popular TV shows such as 'Most Haunted','Scariest Places on Earth' and 'Scream Team', amongst many others. Located in a secluded Cotswold valley, lies an unfinished masterpiece of Victorian building. Designed by architect Benjamin Bucknall for the wealthy Catholic William Leigh, the mansion is a remarkable synthesis of French gothic revival theory and local Cotswold tradition.
During a long and huge renovation of the main building in 1868, all the workers suddenly stopped work and walked, some say ran, out of the Mansion never to return. Among the tools they left behind, their ladders remain propped up against the walls that they were working on, and are still there to this day. It is truly a mysterious place and the true reason why work stopped was never really found out.
Just to add to the atmosphere, the Mansion houses one of the country's largest colonies of Greater Horseshoe bats, . There are gargoyles that protrude around the outside of the building, said to ward of evil and give protection. There have been many sinister sightings over the centuries. Outside there have been sightings of Roman soldiers marching to that of the headless horseman (some say that it is the horse that is headless!). Inside the house there are very strange feelings, smells and sightings of apparitions. On previous visits to this location, our own staff members have experienced an array of phenomena in all areas of the building including a dark energy in the cellars... spirits wandering along the third floor corridors, transformation in mirrors and much more! One interesting room is the kitchen where there are the old workings of a massive clock. The pendulum has been seen swinging away from a complete stop. Investigators have stopped this, gone back 20 minutes later and it is swinging again, stronger than ever.
This is a fantastic venue for ghost hunters, sceptics and believers. You have the chance to spend the night at the spectacular Woodchester Mansion and become a Paranormal Investigator for the evening where you could experience and record real paranormal activity.
The evening begins at 9.30pm with a guided tour of the mansion where you will be told of all the ghostly phenomena that has occurred over the years.
The night is action packed with workshops, vigils, demonstrations of psychic techniques and the use of ghost hunting equipment.
Our experienced and qualified staff, accompanied by a Psychic medium will be present at all times to place you in situations that could spark of ghostly activity.
The last hour of the night you will be given free time to conduct your own vigils and go to the areas you feel most drawn to.
The night finishes at 4.00am with a discussion about the night’s activities and evidence collected.
