The Ancient Ram is a must for any paranormal
investigator or curious ghost hunter. It's infamy is well known and
the building is said to be one of the most haunted locations in the UK
with a host of negative, possibly evil, energies. The current building is
said to have been built in 1145, initially a church house in the valley of
Wotton-under-Edge. Unbeknown to the original owners this was built on an
ancient pagan burial ground and on a multitude of ley lines.
It is from this pagan site and an alleged history of rituals, child
sacrifice, witchcraft, and devil worship that the Inn gets it's
reputation of being a particularly negative place. The current owner of
the Inn, John Humphries bought the decaying and derelict building in 1968
with the intention of turning it into a B&B. John reports to have regular
occurrences of unnatural and negative activity throughout the whole
building and on occasion has been physically touched, pushed and even
attacked!
Most Haunteds
Stuart, experienced this phenomena first hand and as declared on Most
Haunted Live 2007, the Ancient Ram Inn is one of the TOP 3 Haunted
locations they have ever investigated. This location is not for the
faint-hearted and we would recommend that you err on the side of caution
if you intend to investigate with us...
Strange artefacts and discoveries have been found within the walls of the
Inn. An excavation of the old barn discovered a lump of wood which has
been carbon-dated to be around 7000 years old. Skeletons have been found
buried in various parts of the building including that of a baby under the
stairs. This baby is said to still be heard crying in this area...
Other paranormal occurrences are witnessing the apparition of a 'Cavalier'
type character (some say he is in fact a 'Roundhead') in the Bishops room
along with the "Blue Lady". The spirit of a witch and her cat are also
still said to remain. One of the more daunting sightings is that of a
succubus and incubus that John claims to be inside the building...
In summary, this location is probably one of the scariest places that one
can investigate in the UK. Even the hardened sceptic should keep their
wits about them on this location, just in case....are you really
brave enough?
You have the chance to spend the evening and early
hours of the night at the Ancient Ram Inn
and become a Paranormal Investigator for the evening where you could
experience and record real paranormal activity.
The evening begins at 8.30pm with a guided tour of the
Inn where you will be told of all the ghostly phenomena
that has occurred over the years.
The night is action packed with workshops, vigils,
demonstrations of psychic techniques and the use of ghost hunting
equipment.
Our experienced and qualified staff, accompanied by a
Psychic medium will be present at all times to place you in situations
that could spark of ghostly activity.
The last hour of the night you will be given free time
to conduct your own vigils and go to the areas you feel most drawn to.
The night finishes at 3:00am with a discussion about
the night’s activities and evidence collected.
