The Falstaff Experience takes place in
the historic town of Stratford Upon Avon. The main person that is related
to Stratford Upon Avon is William Shakespeare who was born in the town.
Shakespeare was born in 1564 and died 1616. Shakespeare moved back to
Stratford from London in 1610 and lived as a country gentlemen at his
house called New Place until his death. Many of the original houses from
Shakespeare’s time are still in excellent condition as they are being
preserved by the Shakespeare Organisation.
The museum which is in the 16th
Century Shrieves House Barn relates to the history of Stratford and
England in its own right within its labyrinth of theatrical settings.
These include the recreation of Stratford’s most notorious slum, a haunted
chamber from the reformation, a historic tavern, a plague cottage and a
witch’s glade. Parts of the property date back to 1196, the main figures
in history that relate to these periods include William Rogers (the tavern
keeper and inspiration for Shakespeare’s Falstaff character), William
Shrieve (the archer to King Henry VIII).
It has been said that the Falstaff
Experience has over 40 ghosts present in the property and the building has
two vortexes present. Incidents that have been reported include: the
exhibits being moved around on a night, footsteps being heard, stones
being thrown, full apparitions being seen, orbs being caught all around
the building, people having the sensation that they are choking, a
cavalier who walks the halls of the house, a female spirit who waits for
her lover to return from the Civil War & watches for him, many children
are heard, and many people have been touched.
