Ettington Park Hotel - Stratford-Upon-Avon
Ettington Park Hotel is a Country House Hotel situated in the Stour Valley to this day the mansion is used as a hotel.
It is a magnificent Victorian Gothic Mansion built 9 centuries ago. There is a ruined Norman chapel, which is 12th century, in the grounds of the hotel.
The main building was once owned by the 'Shirley' family who lived in the mansion since before the Norman Conquest (1066) and their burial chamber is in the nearby vicinity.
The main bar area which was originally the library has been subject to books flying across the room which made one waiter drop a tray of drinks onto the floor as he was so shocked at what had happened.
There is a room in the main hotel called the 'Stour Suite'. People that have stayed in this room have reported they have heard children crying while they have been sleeping, upon hearing this they have got up out of their beds and looked out of the window to see if they can see who it is crying, two figures have been standing outside. People believe these are the two children that drowned in the River Stour.
The other spooky happening for this room is that the lights switch on & off constantly.
Another visitor to the room is a 'Grey Lady' that walks around the Suite, she has been sighted on many occasions by staff and clients.
Definitely a hotel worth booking a room at if you don't want to get any sleep!
