The history of this building has been recorded as being built in 1765 and used as a farmhouse. It changed to being a public house in the 1900's and was known as the "Siden House" (the meaning of Siden is CROOKED in Black Country jargon).
The pub was also known as "The Glynne Arms" named after Sir Stephen Glynne who owned it at that time. The pub name was then changed to "The Crooked House", it was named this due to the major subsidence that happened because of the mining that was done in the 1800's, the pub has subsided more than 4 foot on the left side and because of this the pub had to be rescued by the use of girders etc to keep the pub from subsiding anymore.
Upon entering The Crooked House you will get a strange feeling as everything is tilted including the window frames to the grandfather clock. People have rolled a coin down the bar and were amazed to see that the coin actually rolls up hill!

In the pub there are several ghosts that frequent it. There have been many sightings of apparitions and poltergeist activity throughout the pub which has been witnessed by staff and visitors to the pub. A servant girl and also a small girl have both been witnessed at The Crooked House on several occasions.
So if you are to go and have an ale in The Crooked House be aware that you might not be drinking alone..............
