Aston Hall - Birmingham
Aston Hall was built in the 1600's, the Hall was started in 1615 and completed in 1635 by Sir Thomas Holte, it is one of the last Jacobean buildings to be built in this country (the hall is over 400 years old).
The Hall was used as a house of residence by Sir Thomas for his family. Sir Thomas was a Royalist Supporter and because of this the building was damaged in the Civil War which is still visible to this day.
Aston Hall has been subject to cannon ball attacks which damaged the great staircase and King Charles I accommodated the hall on his way to the Battle of Edge Hill. During 1817 - 1848 James Watt, son of the great engineer, rented & lived in the hall. In 1863 Queen Victoria held a fete in the halls grounds to re-open it to the public, while the fete was going on a woman tight rope walker was killed while performing. Then the hall was taken over by the Corporation Of Birmingham who own it to this present day as a museum & art gallery.
There are plenty of happenings at Aston Hall and many sightings of the spirits that roam the hall, witnessed by Staff and Visitors over the years.
The first spirit being a 'Grey Ghost' (also known as the 'White Lady') this is to be Sir Thomas Holte's Daughter. Sir Thomas locked his Daughter in the Tower Room for 16 years so she could not elope with her lover, the results of this being the Daughter going insane and dying from apparently starvation.
The second spirit is that of a man servant called 'Dick' who was wrongly accused of stealing and due to that hung himself off a roof beam in what is now called 'Dick Garret's Room', this apparition can be seen swinging off the beam.
The third spirit is an old housekeeper (1645) who can be seen walking around the Hall in a green dress with a high collar.
Definitely a place with an array of phenomena and one World Oneiric Life Force are keen to arrange an investigation inside!
