Bodelwyddan Castle is an impressive and spectacular looking building
dating back to the early 1400's. The castle has had many uses over the
years with it's current look being the creation of Sir John Hay Williams
(The Williams family were the original owners). Even though it is
now restored to it's original look, the castle was also used as a
recuperation hospital in the First World War and in 1920, the house and
estate were sold to Lowther college, a private girls school. In
1982, the college closed due to financial problems and shortly after
purchased by the then Clwyd County council and developed as a museum,
gallery and Visitor's attraction.
The Ghosts of Bodelwyddan Castle
Staff and visitors have reported many sightings of ghosts and
paranormal phenomena within the building. After an interview
with a member of staff at the castle, we were informed that a partial
apparition had been witnessed walking down the corridor pictured
above. The theory to the only partial sighting was that the
corridor floor level had changed in height from the original plans.
The spirit of a lady has also been seen in the Sculpture Gallery
A soldier was seen in one of the galleries (possibly related
to when the building was used as a recuperation hospital)
Shadowy figures have been observed drifting down the many corridors
A 'blue' lady is said to haunt the Terrace Tea Room The most significant finding at the building was in 1829 during
refurbishment. Sir John Hay Williams noted in his diary that human
bones were found near one of the chimneys and it is said that the bones
were built back into the wall. This particular area within the
location was very apprehsive and a definite feeling of being watched was
reported by several investigators. Unfortunately, a fire in the 1920's
destroyed most of the castle documentation so a lot of history was lost
making the verification process extremely difficult.
For confidentiality purposes, the full report detailing all findings of
this Paranormal Investigation is available to participants of the
investigation and upon special request for research purposes only.
Ladies Drawing Room A
spectacular orb has been captured on the far left painting. One of the most detailed and
textured orbs we have photographed to date.

A shadowy image can clearly be seen standing behind the gentleman on
